Seastick's head is equipped with one of the most important sensors of the vehicle: The doppler velocity logger (DVL)

 

The DVL is responsible for reporting its speed in the water, therefore the speed of the vehicle, and the speed of the water around it, like a currentometer, to the other instruments making it possible for them to work.
